A career in industry: Where do I begin?
Webinar| July 30 | 9 - 10:30pm ET
- Member/Member-in-training — $0
- Nonmember/Nonmember-in-training — $15
Audience: Vision scientists and researchers interested in working in industry.
Summary: Applying to a job in industry can be very different than applying to academia. From having to create different cover letters, CVs, and recommendations this session aims to address the gap in knowledge many trainees and scientists have about applying to jobs in industry. Currently after being trained in academia it can be difficult to obtain information about industry jobs and opportunities as the resources are difficult to obtain. Furthermore, it is difficult to know how to make yourself a strong candidate for this very different type of job. This webinar will address how to craft the materials needed to apply for an industry job, how funding works within industry, how to move from academia to industry and to ascend within either realm.
This webinar is hosted by ARVO's Advocacy and Outreach Committee (AOC). A certificate of attendance will be available to attendees upon completion.
